These collections are usually included in our Archives and Manuscripts catalogue. While this catalogue is unavailable you can use the National Archives’ Discovery catalogue to search our collection.
The majority of our India Office Records and Private Papers are stored in St Pancras and provided they are not restricted (see ‘Restricted items’) can be delivered within 70 minutes.
Self-service photography of India Office Private Papers (Mss Eur items) and India Office Maps is not permitted unless by prior permission from the curators. Please speak to the team in the Asian & African Studies Reading Room or contact us and we can put you in touch with the appropriate curator.
All items with IOR shelfmark prefix (with the exception of maps) can be freely photographed using a mobile phone or camera.
